WBTIDCL

West Bengal Transport Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited was created under Transport Department, Government of West Bengal (GoWB) with an aim to make it a dedicated Engineering Wing for undertaking infrastructure development for the transportation sector in the State. The organisation was registered as a corporation in the year 1996, officially setup on 12th of June 1997 under Transport Department and has been functioning since 1998. It looks after construction or procurement of transport infrastructure, primarily for public transport on roads and waterways in West Bengal.

Over the years, WBTIDC has executed multiple projects in the transportation sector – including development of bus terminals, jetties, procurement of buses, ferries etc. It has also engaged the private sector through PPP mode for the execution of its projects. Lastly, WBTIDC acts as an implementing agency for various government / judicial orders.

WBTIDC has also been designated as the PMU for implementing World Bank aided West Bengal Transport and Logistics Improvement Project, on behalf of Transport Department, Government of West Bengal.
